After my recent cold I'm now back at work so not as many hours during the day to bake in, more in the evening. On Sunday Sweden finally won the Karjala tournament in hockey and the first cookie for this, now, international blog took only as much time as the first period of the game Finland vs Sweden. Almond paste mixed with egg white topped with different goodies. Nuts, caramellized orange zests and marashino cherries. I took the liberty of tainting some green!
As I have explained earlier I am not a big fan of throwing food away. I had some whipping cream that needed to be used so yesterday I baked what we in Sweden call rulltårta! Not sure of the correct English word but I guess that Swiss roll is appropriate. Yes Swiss not Swedish. Switzerland and Sweden is not the same, just wanted to make that clear. This Swiss roll had a lot of Sweden in it though. Flavoured like ginger bread and filled with lingonberry cream. Yummy and quick to make!
All for now. Now I will curl up on the sofa and watch the American Baking Competition. What kind of grotesque baked goods will they produce today?
